On the 15.05.2018, we will join the alliance against racism
It is shocking to learn that Christoph B. is an elected council member of this great institution (Charitè). It is shocking because we know him as the director of Zukunft Heimat (Future Homeland), an organization which is making regular racist demonstrations in Cottbus.
We are here to let him know that he and his followers can destroy “a bus but not a movement”.
During our demonstration “Women* against racism and injustice in Cottbus in March, Christoph B. showed up as an uninvited guest. Little did we know what would happen to the bus which had transported us to Cottbus after leaving it behind because of technical problems? The bus was completely damaged and the reparation cost was very high.

INTRODUCTION
In April 2017, Sylvie and Joelle wanted to cross the sea to escape their predicament and start a new life in Europe.[1] They did not know one another until they boarded the small rubber boat in Turkey, together with twenty-two others, including two children. Sylvie was anxious and entered last, handing over her red bag to Joelle who promised to return it after their safe arrival. They departed, but at some point, somewhere in the Aegean Sea, they ran out of fuel and could not continue. Sylvie tried to call for help, but her phone was caught by a large wave. Lost at sea, Joelle, who was in the 8th month pregnant, started to cry and pray for help, but nobody came. The boat capsized, and everybody fell into the water, drifting away from each other. Sylvie and Joelle were separated but Joelle did not give up: “I had a strong feeling of power in me. I don’t even know where this came from, where we fell in the sea there was nothing, no boats, no fishermen, no police, no one.” She was able to stay together with two others, Guilaine and Teddy. They floated in the water throughout the night, trying to stay conscious and together. But at some point, a wave parted them, and Joelle was all alone. Hours later, she suddenly saw a boat approaching. She was taken aboard of the rescue vessel of the NGO Proactiva and brought to land.

Nach  der Demonstration „Frauen* gemeinsam gegen Rassismus und Ungerechtigkeit“ am Samstag
10.03.2018 in der Cottbuser Innenstadt wurde der Bus des Projekts „OTTO“ von Chance e.V.
vermutlich durch Rechte mutwillig zerstört. Der Sachschaden beläuft sich auf mehrere Tausend
Euro. Daher rufen die Vereine Chance e.V., die Opferperspektive e.V. und Women in Exile &
friends dringend dazu auf für die Reparatur zu spenden.
Aufgrund eines leichten technischen Defekts blieb der Bus zunächst nach dem Ende der Demonstration am Samstag auf dem Parkplatz am Oberkirchplatz in Cottbus stehen. Bereits in der Nacht zu Sonntag wurde dort durch Unbekannte der Auspuff mit Bauschaum ausgesprüht. Der Bus war dadurch nicht mehr fahrtauglich. In der Nacht zu Montag wurden dann, von vermutlich mehreren Tätern, zwölf Scheiben eingeschlagen. Da der Bus sehr klar der solidarischen Demonstration am Samstag zugerechnet wurde, kann von einem gezielten Vorgehen von rechten Tätern ausgegangen werden. Der Bus wurde als Symbol und stellvertretend für Alle angegriffen, die an dem Tag in Cottbus für eine solidarische Gesellschaft und gegen Rassismus auf die Straße gegangen sind.

Despite the attacks on the Demo and the destruction of the bus the Women* against racism and injustice-Demo on the 12. of March in Cottbus was a great succes!
With around 250 people we were marching through Cottbus city center and we said it loud and clear: Stop racism in Cottbus! And everywhere!

Blumentopf-Angriff auf Demo bleibt von Polizei unerwähnt
Anlässlich des Internationalen Frauentages demonstrierten am Samstag, den 10. März, rund 250 Menschen durch die Cottbuser Innenstadt. Das Netzwerk, welches zur Demonstration aufgerufen hatte, machte in Redebeiträgen und Sprechchören deutlich, dass Rassismus in Cottbus und überall ein Ende haben muss. Der bunte Protest wurde durch Übergriffe von Gegnern der Demonstration überschattet. In der Nacht von Sonntag auf Montag wurde der von der Organisation Women in Exile genutzte Ominbus auf dem Oberkirchplatz in Cottbus schwer beschädigt.
Die Angriffe während und nach der Demonstration von Frauen und Geflüchteten zeigen erneut, wie hemmungslos in Cottbus gegen Andersdenkende vorgegangen wird. Vor den Augen der Polizei und trotz erhöhter Polizei-Präsenz in Cottbus wurde die Demonstration von zahlreichen Vorfällen überschattet. “Für uns ist klar, dass die Zerstörung des Busses ein gezielter Angriff war. Genau die rassistischen und frauenfeindlichen Zustände in Cottbus, die von uns kritisiert wurden, haben sich hier wieder einmal bestätigt. Wir lassen uns davon aber nicht einschüchtern und fordern die Politiker*innen der Stadt auf, endlich Position zu beziehen und einzugreifen.”, so Elizabeth Ngari von Women in Exile and Friends. Sie fährt fort: “Die antirassistische Arbeit im allgemeinen und insbesondere für Frauen ist und bleibt notwendig!”

Anlässlich des Internationalen Frauentags am 08. März veranstaltet ein Netzwerk von brandenburgischen Organisationen die erste Demonstration zum Frauenkampftag seit Jahren in Cottbus. Am Samstag, dem 10. März 2018, startet die Demonstration mit einer Kundgebung ab 11.30 Uhr in Sandow am Muskauer Platz. Unter dem Motto “Frauen gemeinsam gegen Rassismus und Ungerechtigkeit”, werden verschiedene Vereine und Initiativen auf die rassistischen Zustände in Cottbus hinweisen.
Die Demonstration bewegt sich am Blechen Carree, an der Stadthalle und am Altmarkt vorbei, bis zum Oberkirchplatz, wo die Abschlusskundgebung statt finden wird.
„Wir nehmen die Lage in Cottbus sehr ernst. Seit Anfang des Jahres führt die massive rechte Hetze von Zukunft Heimat zu weitreichenden Folgen.
Geflüchtete und besonders geflüchtete Frauen fühlen sich in der Stadt unwohl und bedroht. Der Frauenkampftag bietet die Möglichkeit, um auf diese Zustände aufmerksam zu machen!”, so Elizabeth Ngari von Women in Exile. Frauen fliehen in vielen Fällen vor patriarchaler Gewalt und vor der Bedrohung durch Männer. Nachdem viele gefährlichste Routen nach Europa überlebt haben sind sie in Deutschland wieder patriarchaler Gewalt sowie rassistischen Drohungen ausgesetzt. Frauen sind weltweit betroffen und das einzige Mittel kann sein, sich gegen diese Zustände zusammenzuschließen!

Marking the 8th of March, the International Women*s Day of Struggle we, Women in Exile and Friends together with other allies are organizing a Demonstration in Cottbus, south Brandenburg.
We are turning against the hatred against refugees caused by right populist, spreaded by media and carried out by the politics.
This hatred follows a conservative and right conception of women and is systematically provoking a separation between Cottbus citizens.
Why Cottbus?
For a long time south Brandenburg in general and Cottbus especially are known as racist centers.
For years the organization Opferperspektive (victims perspective) is registering rising violent attacks in this region.
The new right organization “Zukunft Heimat” (Future Homeland) is marching for one year regularyly through the center of Cottbus.
Thus the offical announcement that no more refugees from the central-receiving center (Erstaufnahmelager) in Eisenhüttenstadt will be allocated to Cottbus, is a dangerous signal and playing to the right wings hand.
Enough is enough! It is important to go on the streets in Cottbus now.

 It is been 13 years since Oury Jalloh, a young man from Sierra Leone, who came to German seeking for asylum, died in police custody from unexplained circumstances. All evidence leads to a brutal murder in the hands of the German police in the city of Dessau.
To commemorate the 13 anniversary of the death of Oury Jalloh on the 7th of January this year, “Women in Exile and Friends” decided to mobilise for the annual demo and instead of attending individually as the case had been in the previous years. The demo which had more than 5,000 participants was demanding for justice to be executed to the murderers of Oury Jalloh. That the case should not be closed until justice is seen to have been done. We strongly condemn the European Union policies on supporting African countries in stopping refugee and migrants to enter Europe. They support regimes which they perceive as corrupt and non governable, by providing finances and training program. This support result in deaths and slavery as is the evidence of the recent cases in Libya, Niger etc. A lot of money is being given and more promised to African leaders whose countries are used by refugee’s en-route to Europe. New treaties and more border controls by European Union have extended beyond their continent. Jobs are being created for European citizens while the Africans who are struggling to look for better opportunities elsewhere are hunted like animals and exposed to all sorts of abuses.  We are the lucky recipient of this year’s prize from the Butterfly Fund of the Trostfrauen AG which is part of the Korea Verband in Berlin. The money was presented to us by Ms Won OK –GIL. Ms Won –Gil is the last survivor of the “Trostfrauen” (“Comfort Women”) and one of the founders of the Butterfly Fund.
The Fund supports female victims of sexual violence in armed conflicts internationally. After World War II, the Comfort Women and other Japanese military sexual slavery victims promised to donate their reparations from the Japanese government to other women in the entire world who suffer wartime sexual violence pains and agony. Their wish is that all the women in agony, including the victims of Japanese military sexual slavery would be able to fly from discrimination, repression and violence.
