Women in Exile in MOVEMENTS vol 3

we are very pleased to announce the release of the new issue of movements. Journal for Critical Migration and Border Regime Studies:

movements volume 3, issue 1/2017  |  Contested movements to and through EUrope
Issue 3 (1) addresses two facets of EUropean migration politics that are rarely scrutinised in their relation to one another: the conflicts around internal EU migration and social rights, as well as the dynamics of the EU’s border and asylum policies since the 2015/2016 border regime crisis.

The journal is available in printed form via the German publisher transcript, as well as in an open-access version at www.movements-journal.org.

Stop Deportation! Demonstration vor der tunesischen Botschaft

The demonstration outside the Tunisian Embassy on the 31.03.17 was attended by about 100 people. Most of them came from Leipzig and the organizers said most people were afraid to come because the Embassy passed the word that the demo was to support a political party. With this lie and the fact that about 1500 refugees are to be deported, people were afraid to go near the Embassy.

The demand to the Embassy was to stop issuing travel documents to the Tunisian for deportation purposes.

Women from “Women in Exile” took part in the demo and demanded in their speech to the Tunisian Ambassador, to stop collaborating with European countries in their policy of deportation by giving documents to facilitate deportation of their nationals. 31.3. Protest in front of the Tunisian Embassy – Our Speech

[31.3.2017 Demonstration in front of the Tunisian Embassy, the Chancellor’s office and the German Parliament]

The European Union is making all sorts of pacts with friendly and unfriendly countries to stop refugees from entering European countries. It is a pity that African countries are partnering and becoming part and parcel of these pacts. African leaders are writing down a history of being responsible for the millions of their nationals’ deaths because of their greediness and power egotism.

Stop negotiating your dirty deals by jeopardizing human lives. Continue reading 31.3. Protest in front of the Tunisian Embassy – Our Speech

REPORT ON OUR DEMONSTRATION IN EISENHÜTTENSTADT

Our journey started in Alexanderplatz where all women* met and had a wonderful photo shoot with SOLIDRINKS team who came to give us a hand of support and who learned a lot about us, the Women in Exile through an interview which was done by few women* from the team and in which we shared our experience and motives concerning the movement. We latter arrived at our targeted destiny Eisenhüttenstadt where every woman seemed happy and energetic ready to show support to the women* who were inside the camp and who knew little about their rights.

Being the WORLD WOMEN* INTERNATIONAL DAY, we had some rose flowers with us to give to our fellow women* in the camp as a sign of love and solidarity only to be blocked by police who stood at the entry of the camp and refused us to get inside the camp.  Continue reading REPORT ON OUR DEMONSTRATION IN EISENHÜTTENSTADT

For a Berlin of Solidarity, Diversity and Migrants

Even if we are mainly active in Brandenburg, we fully support the call of many groups for a Berlin of Solidarity, Diversity and Migrants.

Our demands:

1. An immediate halt of deportations from Berlin. The right to stay for all newly arrived Berlin residents.

2. No deportations from Berlin to Afghanistan!

3. On the federal level, we call on the Berlin government to put all their efforts toward preventing a further tightening of the asylum law!

COME & JOIN US ON 8th OF MARCH IN EISENHÜTTENSTADT

Logo_WiE2 Ralley on 8th of March 2017 from 12:30 – 15:00
in front of the Central Reception Center (ZAST)
Poststrasse 72, Eisenhüttenstadt

Who comes to Brandenburg as a refugee, is first put into the central reception center in Eisenhüttenstadt. Here, it will be decided whether you get a chance to apply for asylum at all.
This decision is a matter of life and death. People are living in constant fear to end up on the other side of the fence the next day. In the deportation prison which is located in the same compound.
Refugees are kept here in Eisenhüttenstadt without a clue about when and where they will be transferred next. Instead of granting them asylum they are treated like criminals. The officers take fingerprints… Again and again, violent assaults happen, especially against women and children. There is no privacy.

Cases of sexual abuse by the employees of the German Red Cross (DRK) that were made public are only the tip of the iceberg.

This is why we say:
No Lager for Women and Children! Abolish all Lagers!
No to the (new) asylum laws! Stop Deportation!

COME & JOIN US ON 8th OF MARCH IN EISEN!

Brandenburg – New Decree on Victims of Racist Violence?

Like all the groups in Brandenburg working with refugees, we are happy to welcome the new

decree of the state of Brandenburg on persons who are victims of racially motivated violence and are subject to deportations.¹ It is a first step to grant a right of residence to persons who were attacked by Nazis and who were able to prove it; who were seriously injured and will never fully recover from that attack. But what about the others?
